True York Club

We are a new city-wide community group for all of York "to be at home." We hold easy-going but potential-rich events where we can make the social connections we need in life.

Recent scientific studies indicate, hidden in plain sight, an epidemic of loneliness in our modern way of living, and it's a root cause of many of society's greatest challenges, from addiction and violence to depression and anxiety. It's heavily stigmatised, but it simply means one's relationships are somehow lacking.

At True York Club, we associate according to the fact that everybody in York, whoever it may be, constitutes and belongs to our city community (whether we like it or not). Significantly this means 1) before we even meet, we're actually already connected and have all we need in common, 2) everyone should rightly feel welcome in our company – by its very nature, our group is neither discriminatory nor fragmentary, and 3) we care for all, since our health and well-being grows together.

As in our broader society, members of True York Club are free of yet responsible to each other. It's hoped that the sense of community within our network will allow each one of us to express ourselves authentically, thereby taking a crucial step towards happiness in life.
