About us
Try Anything Once is for people who enjoy curiosity, exploration, and saying yes to new experiences.
We run a couple of events each month, keeping gatherings intentionally small (around 6–10 people).
Each gathering is a chance to try something different — from active and creative experiences to exploring the city or simply sharing food and conversation.
The idea is simple: curiosity, motion, and shared experience.
Events might include things like:
🚶 Urban walks focused on street art or weird local history
🎶 Joining events like Piknic Électronik, BikeNight, or the Hot Air Balloon Festival
🪓 Activities like axe throwing, archery tag, or ziplining — things to try at least once
🎨 Creative sessions like pottery, glass blowing, or low-key art nights
🌌 Watching a meteor shower or stargazing with astronomy enthusiasts and their telescopes
🥙 Attending cultural festivals (mostly for the food, if we’re honest)
🧪 The occasional strange experiment (because why not?) — graffiti for first-timers, rabbit meditation, etc.
Most people come on their own the first time, so you won’t be the only one.
This group is still getting started, so early members help shape what it becomes.
Got an idea for something we should try? Feel free to suggest it.
No pressure. No cliques. No long-term commitment.
If something sounds interesting, join us.
Try it once. See what happens.

🎨🖌️ Acrylic Painting Night at Brew Pub
Clocktower Brew Pub - Westboro, 418 Richmond Rd, Ottawa, ON, CAA relaxed, beginner-friendly paint night — no experience needed.
We’ll be guided step-by-step by a local artist and designer, Mahathi, who focuses on making creativity approachable and not intimidating. You’ll learn a few basics along the way (color mixing, brush technique, etc.) and leave with something you made yourself.
All materials are provided.
We’ll be hosting this at a local brewpub, so food and drinks will be available to purchase throughout the session if you’d like something while you paint. The idea is to keep things relaxed and social — more of a night out than a class.
This is a small group (8 people), so it should feel easygoing and social — whether you come on your own or with someone else.
Cost: $60 (materials included)
Registration is handled through Eventbrite (link below) since this one requires materials and a fixed group size.

🚶Urban Art Walk — Hintonburg & Chinatown
Ahh!!! Coffee, 50 Bayswater Ave, Ottawa, ON, CABack for another round after a great turnout last time. A casual walk to explore some of Ottawa’s street art and murals.
We’ll start near where Wellington Street turns into Somerset Street and explore both areas using the Ottawalls map as a guide. The plan is to walk down one side of Wellington and back along the other, then do the same along Somerset — seeing what we find along the way. You’ve probably walked past some of these before — just not all at once.
Along the route, we’ll check out Emilie Darlington’s koi mural — one of the more striking pieces in the area, and the inspiration behind this event’s image.
We’ll move at a casual pace and plan for around 2 hours total including stops along the way. Since the route passes back near the starting area midway through, there’s also the option to join for just the first hour if you prefer.
The group will stay small (around 10 people). People often end up swapping phones and taking photos for each other along the way — feel free to join in if that’s your thing.
If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll adjust.
Meeting point: In front of Ahh!!! Coffee (50 Bayswater Avenue)
I’ll likely grab a coffee there beforehand if anyone wants to join. We’ll likely wrap up somewhere nearby for anyone who wants to stick around afterward — there are plenty of nearby food and drink options in the area.
By the way:
We’ve also got a small Acrylic Painting Night coming up next week for anyone interested in the more 'hands-on' side of art:
