65-30 Kissena Blvd, Flushing, NY 11367, New York, NY
Welcome to "try! Swift NYC" 's third meetup event! Join us this talk to get your entry ticket to a future filled with Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and Game Development. The future is nigh. How will you use your present time?
3D graphics is cool. 3D graphics everywhere. Virtual Reality. Augmented Reality. Games, games, games. Jaw dropping visual f/x in movies and ads. Most devs however, are intimidated by the steep learning curve required to learn how the coolness happens. This talk is for you. I will unpack Apple’s Metal 3D Graphics API and help shed light on this powerful and expressive technology so that you can go off and be one of the cool kids too. There will be demos. There will be a Github repo for you to plunder. You will have a blast.
Doug Turner is an Apple alumnus where he spent 8 years as a 3D graphics researcher and was a member of the QuicktimeVR development team. He went on to live and work in Iceland teaching computer science students about Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality at the University of Iceland and consulting with startups in Iceland, Denmark, Finland, and the United Kingdom. Doug is currently based in Boston and New York where he consults on genomics data visualization projects and 3D graphics and Virtual Reality projects.
