China Trek Reveal: Discover Mt. Gongga + Full Trip Details

### *About this Talk*

Last year, we announced that TSX was heading to China and introduced Mt. Gongga as our next international trekking destination. We shared the vision, but left many of the details still to come.

On September 29, we’re ready to let you in on the full experience.
Join us online for the official release of the Mt. Gongga Challenge, a high-altitude trekking and cultural experience through the mountains of western Sichuan, China. We’ll walk through the complete trip, including dates, route, distance, elevations, day-by-day itinerary, accommodations, travel logistics, pricing, training and what to expect from life on the trail.

This is much more than a traditional backpacking trip. The experience begins high in the mountains of western China with time to acclimatize in Xinduqiao before traveling deeper into the region for two nights at a Tibetan monastery near the base of Mt. Gongga. From there, we’ll hike toward Mt. Gongga Base Camp before transitioning into several days of backpacking through remote alpine terrain, generally between 14,000 and 17,000 feet, including mountain camps and a night in a remote hut. The journey concludes in Kangding before returning to Chengdu.

Towering over the region is Mt. Gongga, the 24,790-foot “King of the Sichuan Mountains.” We won’t be climbing the mountain itself. Instead, Gongga provides the dramatic backdrop to an experience built around high-altitude trekking, remote landscapes, Tibetan culture, monasteries, mountain communities and the opportunity to experience a side of China few travelers ever see.
