The Indie Film Group Turns 20!
Details
November 15 is the 20th anniversary of this group’s first event: Good Night and Good Luck at the Varsity. By chance, this month is also my 15th anniversary month as organizer - I think my first event was Generation Exile, a Duke Screen and Society showing. So I thought it would be cool to have a party on the 15th. It’s just going to be a party (not a streaming night) so I won’t have to try to squeeze everybody around the TV and I can include a few more people.
The location is not listed, but I’ll send the address out to Yes RSVP’s the Wednesday before - please message me if you don’t get it.
I’ll have soda and sparkling water to drink, plus a dessert. I’ve never been a drinker and I’m never sure what to buy in terms of alcoholic drinks, so I hope a few of you with good taste will fill that gap with beverages to share. Otherwise, please consider bringing a treat. You might say what you’re bringing in the comments, but it always works out.
And a bit of homework: try to think about what your first event was with the group and a memorable movie experience you’ve had with the group. I promise we’re not going to go around a circle and give your answers - I’m just trying to prime you for group-related conversation.
As with the streaming nights, there is a limit on attendees, so please take your RSVP seriously. You can bring a guest, but, if you’re on the waitlist you should each sign up separately so you won’t get skipped over if a single person drops out.
