What we’re about
Do you love to sing? Blend your voice with like-minded women, learn about singing four-part, a cappella harmony in the barbershop style, and participate in light-hearted choreography! Female singers of all skill levels are welcome to join us on the risers. In addition to weekly Tuesday evening meetings (6:15 pm - 9:30 pm), we provide a variety of educational experiences, as well as the opportunity to participate in quartets, double quartets, and full group sing-outs. Tucson Desert Harmony (TDH), is an award-winning women's barbershop chorus, a local chapter of Sweet Adelines International (http://sweetadelines.com), and a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization.
How to Join
Prospective members will be asked to learn 1 of 2 songs and will have the opportunity to audition after 3-6 rehearsals. We will provide you with sheet music as well as audio learning tracks to help you practice at home. Our goal is to help you succeed, so don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions! We are here to support you and make sure you are having lots of fun along the way!
Ongoing Membership
Each week you'll learn new and exciting ways to bring out the very best singer in you. In addition to weekly Tuesday night rehearsals, we perform in and around our area about 4-6 times per year for local festivals, holiday events, and shows of our own. We also participate in the Region 21 Regional Competition in the spring of each year. In preparation for competition, we will have occasional additional rehearsals with coaches, and the expectation is that all members will attend those coaching sessions. Monthly member dues cover International and Regional dues, and expenses for music, our Director, facilities rental, costumes, a portion of annual competition fees and other events.
