Tucson Howakai meeting every Sunday afternoon

We offer authentic Shin (Jōdo Shinshū / Japanese True Pure Land sect) Buddhist services every Sunday at 2PM in the Library of the Ada Peirce McCormick Building, 1401 East 1st Street (on the U of A campus).

Shin Buddhism does not emphasize meditation practice, but rather focuses on chanting and relying on the nembutsu (recalling the Name of the Buddha of Infinite Life and Light), which is said to contain all of the wisdom, compassion, and other virtues found in the Buddhist tradition.
