Details

Marshall Lake is a small marshy body of water that’s generally full of coots and other waterfowl, so great for birding. It is located across from Upper Lake Mary and is about 20 minutes southeast of Flagstaff. It is a large marshy area so no boating or kayaking. Elevation 6890. Temps in June 81/47. + signal

The camp spot is tall pine trees off a dirt road with lots of shade. The road is tar right up until the last two miles or so.

This is a dispersed area with no amenities. The final two miles or so to the camp spot is dirt road with bumps and small rocks. I went in with my low clearance van with no trouble. Once you make the final left turn there is a short area where one side of the road has several dips, and the other side is a bit sloped. Big rigs go slow and be careful.

There are several firepits, but we will likely need to bring propane if there are fire restrictions. It is first-come-first-served, and so you may be near campers you don’t know. If possible, reserve spots for the group if you arrive early.

I will send the group text the Sunday before the camp so please be sure and update your final RSVP by then.

If you haven’t paid the annual dues by then please do so before the camp.

Ashurst Lake is nearby. They allow non-motorized canoeing, windsurfing, kayaking, fishing and also good for birding. Mormon Lake also, but no boating or access to it other than to view it from the pull off area.

The Lowell Observatory (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lowell_Observatory ) is also nearby.
