Lunch and Lecture -Avian first-aid with Dr. Erica Giles

This will be the first installment of our Parrots who Love Us lecture series, and we’re starting out with topic that could one day save your bird’s life! We will have Dr. Erica Giles come talk to us about First Aid for your parrot. She will be available to answer other general avian health questions as well.

Dr. Giles is an avian vet who is relatively new in town, working at Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital at their newest location in Tucson. She has 3 parrots of her own.

We will meet at the back patio of Zinburger (on the corner of River Rd. and Campbell Ave. and I will have a sign on our table that says Parrot Meetup on it. We will be able to order food at the table and have it delivered while Dr. Giles talks about first aid for our parrots. It will also be a great time to mingle and chat about our feathered family members.

When the weather gets cooler outside I would like to continue this lecture series out on the patio at various pet-friendly restaurants (including Zinburger and Beyond Bread) so that our birds can attend in carriers or on harnesses, to provide socialization and enrichment for them as well as for ourselves!

The day before the meetup, I will look at the weather and determine if we will sit outside and invite the birds or if we will be indoors and have to leave the birds at home. Hope to see you there!
