Raw & Vegan Potluck Memorial Day
Details
MEMORIAL DAY POTLUCK CELEBRATION:
The goal of this group is to share with everyone how delicious raw and vegan foods can be. We celebrate diversity in every way and include everyone no matter where they are on their food journey. Come join us for a community potluck where everyone is appreciated for their food journey regardless of where they are. Many newbies have a hard time knowing what to bring - here are some easy tips. Let's start here:
What is Vegan:
Anything that comes from a plant or fruit is vegan; anything comes from an animal is NOT vegan. Animal based products include: dairy products and eggs. Everything which comes to the potluck must be vegan.
What is Raw:
Any fruit, vegetable, nut or grain that has not been heated above 115 degrees. Anything in a bottle, can or packaged frozen foods has been processed, pasteurized or blanched and heated above 115 degrees in the process.
Easiest Raw & Vegan;
- Cut up ripe, fresh, hopefully organic fruit
- Go to a salad bar and put together a nice selection of items
- Potluck items may be raw or cooked
Easiest Vegan:
- Pesto sauce over noodles, which might even be gluten free noodles;
- Avocado toast on some organic sprouted bread with Veganese (plant based mayonnaise)
- Potluck items MUST be vegan
One more must: Bring all your own cups, bowls, utensils, serving spoons.
We encourage exploring new recipes. The best way to get started is to go to Youtube and do search on: "Easy Vegan Recipes" or "Easy Raw Vegan Recipes"
Come help us kick-off our first ever meeting in Tucson on this fun Memorial Day weekend. Hope to see you there!
