Movies on a Theme for Cinephile Nerds - January is the Mafia!
Details
Similar to books on a theme except we discuss movies!! The movies (which are my tastes, TBH) will tend to be in themes or will be a "pick one from an iconic filmmaker" (like Hitchcock, Coen Brothers, Wes Anderson, Jim Jarmusch, Scorsese, Tarantino, etc.). The suggested titles will tend to be iconic or influential movies that were made with intentional artistic choices, and there might be a good amount of movie selections that I include that have graphic violence or that fall into horror genres. (Other months might include Zombies/Undead, Revenge is Sweet, Street Gangs, Chilly Horror, Pick a Dracula, but there might be other categories like favorite Stoner movie, Manic Pixie Dreamgirl, Foodie Movies, etc. There will not be any Marvel or DC Comics movies, sorry!)
For this month, these are some titles to consider watching (and feel free to watch/discuss a movie not listed below):
* Scarface (the original 1932 one or the remake w/Al Pacino)
* Goodfellas
* The Godfather(s)
* Mean Streets
* Casino
* The Untouchables
* Donnie Brasco
* On the Waterfront
* A Bronx Tale
* Miller's Crossing
Picking Moto Sonora Brewing for now, may switch up the location later.
