Pace: SLOW This is a moderately challenging route because of two switchback areas - one uphill and one downhill. Average hiker takes 2 hrs to complete but we will hike SLOW SLOW SLOW on these more difficult sections.
Prepare: Wear walking/hiking shoes for dirt trail, often rocky. Bring 1-2L water, sunscreen, hat, hiking/trekking poles and whatever you need to be prepared, safe and comfortable. Lunch or trail snacks are recommended.

NO DOGS allowed on this trail.

Lets explore this very popular trail on the west side of the Tucson Mountains near the desert museum. The trail covers a variety of terrain and elevation, ensuring that you will be thoroughly entertained throughout your hike with beautiful vistas of Avra Valley, Wasson Peak, Baboquivari Peak, Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, Gates Pass, and many others.

NOTE: nearest restrooms are at Gilbert Ray Campground.

Average pace for our group is 1.5-2.50 mph - aka 'slow' but this hike will be even a bit slower. We walk at the pace of the slowest hiker. There will be stops/pauses for photos, interesting plants, exceptional views and rest/water.
