Beginners ONLY Hike: Phoneline/Rattlesnake Trail Loop @ Sabino Canyon

• Sabino Canyon is a fee area - $5.00 per car.These fees for recreational use will hopefully allow the Forest Service to continue to subsidize grazing leases and timber sales at their present generous levels.

If you are new to hiking or new to the Tucson/Sonoran Desert area this is a hike for you.

Although this hike falls within the Tucson Hiking MeetUp Group Hike Rating Scale (http://files.meetup.com/372195/Hike%20Rating%20Scale.pdf) for a "Beginner" class hike, I am giving it a Beginner + rating for the following reasons:

Two shallow stream crossings which will require boulder hopping or wading.

Some steep, rocky sections of trail.

Some sections of exposed trail with drop offs on one side.

Knowing this it would be a good idea to bring trekking poles or a walking stick and wear foot gear with sturdy, lug soles.

This hike will give you a good perspective on the canyon from floor level to a 400' perch looking down on the canyon. Nice...

Please Bring: 2+ liters of water, food for a snack, sun protection
