A Relaxing Outing down South AZ
Details
Anyone interested in getting out of Tucson for some outing in January? I am proposing a day trip down to Bisbee to walk Bisbee 1000 (The Great Stair Climb). Having lunch and walking to explore the town there. Then onward to Whitewater Draw Wildlife Area to see sandhill cranes by early evening.
Date: January 18th, 2026 Sunday
Time:
Meet at 9am at Triple T Truck Stop (5451 E Benson Hwy, Tucson, AZ 85756) for carpooling and caravan.
Or
Meet at 10:30am at Iron Man statue located in the plaza in front of the Cochise County Superior Court (100 Quality Hill Rd #104, Bisbee, AZ 85603) at Bisbee.
Bisbee 1000 is 4.5 miles with 9 staircases. It usually takes about 3 hours to finish the walk. We are walking as a group. However, if anyone wants to set their own pace or doesn't want to finish the whole loop, or if you want to spend more time checking out the shops and galleries, feel free to do your own things, but just let me know. I am also proposing a late group lunch at 2pm. Suggest restaurants:
Bisbee’s Table
Bisbee Breakfast Club
High Desert Market & Cafe
Screaming Banshee Pizza
Please vote for your choice of restaurant.
We will head to Whitewater Draw around 4pm to see the cranes because evening is the best time to see the cranes. It is a 30 mins drive.
Please understand it will be a full long day event. Please check your schedule and time availability before you sign up.
