Join us for for an Intermediate interesting loop hike of 6.1 miles total in Saguaro Park East. This hike takes us from the Douglas Spring-Garwood-Carillo-Douglas Spring trails.

This hike offers panoramic views of the city and Catalina Mountains to the north, as well as a visit to an interesting curiosity - a large concrete dam at the 1.7 mile mark. This dam is the last remaining structure of the Bar G Ranch, which operated there from 1945-1959.

The total elevation gain is just under 900 feet, but the ascents are gentle, and much of the terrain is hard-packed sand, which makes for easy and quick walking.

Our estimated hiking speed is 2.5 MPH, which might be considered medium-fast, considering relatively moderate ascents. You should be an experienced hiker in good hiking shape if you sign up.

This anticipated speed has us walking for 2 3/4 hours, so I anticipate a total hike of 3 - 3 1/4 hours, including stopping/resting, such as at the dam.
