Seven Falls via Bear Canyon Road
Details
Join us for for an Intermediate 7.2 mile out-and-back hike to Sabino Canyon's iconic Seven Falls. As of earlier this week, the falls were running strong, so we will cross our fingers that it remains that way next Wednesday. On the way there, we will cross running water 8 times! So wear good boots if you have them.
The total elevation gain is 761 feet. This is a very popular trail, so we can expect to encounter a fair number of other hikers.
Our estimated hiking speed is 2.4 MPH, which might be considered medium-fast, considering relatively moderate ascents. You should be an experienced hiker in good hiking shape if you sign up.
This anticipated speed has us walking for 3 hours, so I anticipate a total hike of 3 1/2 - 3 3/4 hours, which includes a longish stop at the falls to enjoy the view.
There are two parking areas at the end of Bear Canyon Road, one right at the trailhead and one a 5 minute walk away. Both are small. Accordingly, we will meet in the parking lot for Bear Canyon Pizza on the corner of Tanque Verde and Bear Canyon Road, and carpool from there the short distance to the trailhead. The address is 8987 E. Tanque Verde Rd.
