Let’s Learn Lore!
Details
Do you wanna build apps with React, but find the learning curve of the ecosystem intimidating or exhausting? Or maybe you already use React & Redux, but you are looking for patterns to reduce the boilerplate in your own apps? If so, Jason Hansen’s Lore framework is for you!
Lore is a convention-driven framework for React that is built on Redux, React-Router and Webpack. Fundamentally, Lore doesn’t introduce anything new; if you understand Redux, then you understand how Lore works. So it’s not “another new thing” in that sense. But what Lore does do is integrate support for many of the application needs we’re often left to solve for on our own; things like pagination, filtering, optimistic updates, AJAX communication and WebSockets to name a few.
Jason himself will lead this workshop, focused on building a mini-version of Twitter. He’ll start off with a quick talk and demo, and then let everyone loose on his amazing online workshop, and will be available for questions and discussion! Note that while it’s recommended that you have a basic understanding of React prior to attending, if you can comfortably follow the tutorial on the React website (https://facebook.github.io/react/docs/tutorial.html) that should be sufficient!
Beer and non-alchoholic drinks will be provided by us!
Want to present at an upcoming TucsonJS? Let Richard or Eric know during the meetup or send us a message via the organizer’s contact button. We always need speakers! If you need an idea for a topic, we can help with that too.
Getting to the meetup by car: Connect is right in downtown Tucson, so if you are not biking, taking the bus, streetcar, or dirigible you are probably coming by automobile. Downtown street parking in metered spots is free after 5pm, but may be limited. (Should you find a spot on the street, please be careful not to block the streetcar!) Your best bet may be the Depot Plaza Garage (45 N 5th Ave). Check out the city’s parking guide (http://tdot.tucsonaz.gov/parkwise/where-can-i-park-downtown) for more info.
