Rt 66 Centennial Tour- Ollie’s Station/Railroad Museum/Old train Depot
Details
The next stop in our Rt 66 Tour…
Ollie’s Station and Railroad Museum is a family owned restaurant out past the west Tulsa Train Station. In the Historic “Red Fork” district. They have multiple hobby trains setup inside which is always a draw for the young or the young at heart, plus some nice antiques and interesting vintage memorabilia to check out.
They have a cozy room we can take over a corner of the building for our gathering.
They’ve been known for years for their “buffet” - on Saturdays they have a breakfast buffet all day for ~$12- or just order off the menu
There are 3 art studios and a gigantic Rt 66 mural within a few yards (walking distance). There at the intersection of W. 41st St. and Southwest Boulevard.
Just east off there about 1/2 mile is the Historic red Fork Depot Established 1884 where we can get up close and personal with a Frisco 4500 Locomotive- you’ll find it’s several Big Baldwin disc Wheels stand taller than I do!
Come please your inner child by getting up close and personal with this train, It even has a caboose at the end for you relive some childhood imaginations, and at the very least is a very cool photo up. I find standing next to it is most definitely an education in reverence for human engineering!
Can’t wait to show these trains- both big and small- off to you! I am really hoping for good weather to allow for us to spend a little time outside seeing the train
