Your "Strategy" Won't Make You Happy (and how to get a real one)
Details
The word "strategy" is as overused as "literally" — its true meaning lost. Still, having one implies YOU'LL WIN!
But a word reduced to a synonym for "success" is mere glitter, drawing eyes to the imagined destination ..and distracting from how to get there. It avoids the hard work of knowing "what's going on here" and where to invest your ever-limited resources that to make success more likely. This sparkly definition of strategy barely mentions the need to sacrifice something to prioritize anything. True strategy is neither a mere list of "things to do" or of things you wish would happen; it is problem-solving ...of the right problem.
"First, you need to define your Mission and Vision." It's hard to start any organization without being told this law of nature. Defining "your Values" may come before.
The Mission,Vision,Values template is one of the most popular (almost required) tools people use to "have a strategy".
Strategic Planning is another of the most commonly used approaches, and often has MVV as its own first step.
But whether the approach is creating a shared vision and culture in which people are "empowered" to decide the best actions on their own (sparing leadership the work), or hierarchies of goals and tasks are set by management, neither of these tools will actually make you happy. They cannot deliver what the word "strategy" promises: something more than just getting by.
We will show you why they can't.
We'll share the simple, logical, minimum requirements to have a real strategy.
And you'll get a hands-on experience, beyond theory, of how to actually develop one as responsibly specific to your organization as a prescription needs to be for the health of an individual.
