# Azure DocumentDB is back: Open Source and AI-ready

Azure DocumentDB is back ..... It is now an open-source project that runs MongoDB workloads on a PostgreSQL foundation. This session is a practical look at how to use it, whether you are coming from a SQL background or a NoSQL one.

We’ll start by running DocumentDB locally and walking through the basics: setting up a cluster, performing CRUD operations with code, and running direct queries. We'll also explore DocumentDB through the eyes of SQL and MongoDB professionals.

Finally, we’ll move into AI. You will see how to use integrated Vector Search to build and scale RAG-based applications. We’ll show you how to store embeddings and query them directly where your data lives using the DiskANN engine (currently available in Azure).

This will be recorded and made available soon after. You can find recordings on https://youtube.com/@tulsadnug
