AI in creative fields with a panel talking about IPR

Details

AI is widely used in practically every business area and also in creating art as well as various tools helping e.g. the music and the gaming industries. There are naturally IPR related questions as well as questions regarding if AI generated art is art.

Fantasy asset concepts, adding generative AI to your workflows
Jami Aho, Specialist in digital graphics, Futuristic Interactive Technologies -research group, TUAS
Let’s delve into the benefits of implementing generative AI into your visual processes. Drawing on their extensive experience in digital graphics, presenter will showcase examples of how generative AI can enhance workflows and provide new opportunities for creativity.
Jami has been looking into new workflows in this field for over 10 years, be it with f2p mobile games or with VR and AR technologies using 2D, 3D, vfx, etc. Now focused on utilizing Generative AI and other new tools like NeRF’s to enhance current ways of working. Music as a knowledge domain for algorithmic processing and AI
Kalev Tiits, Musicologist, teacher, and musician in electronic music and music technology currently in Sibelius Academy at University of the Arts Helsinki, Finland. Musical works and sound installations presented i.e., in Tampere Biennale, International Computer Music Conference ICMC Göteborg, La Primavera en La Habana festival Cuba, Santiago Electronic music festival Chile.
Kalev will review some historical developments of music in relation to algorithmic generation and artificial intelligence, and present ideas particular to music as a domain of knowledge. Special nature of music generation is discussed as related to a view of music as a time series. The talk will also briefly touch less time-oriented applications of machine learning within music technology.

Computational Creativity, the Ultimate AI
Tapio Takala, Professor emeritus, Aalto University, Department of Computer Science. Dr.tech from Helsinki University of Technology (TKK, later Aalto), professor of computer science 1995-2021. Research interests: computer graphics, animation and sound, human-computer interaction (HCI), virtual reality (VR), creativity and arts. Amateur musician, graduated as piano teacher from Helsinki Conservatory of Music.
The talk will discuss the state-of-the-art of AI, focusing on its recent subfield computational creativity. The ultimate, still open key question is how to define creativity. That will determine how we evaluate the computer's behavior and its creations, and which party to attribute for intellectual property, i.e. whether we should talk about creative computers or computer-aided creativity.

Panel moderator
Janne Aaltonen, CEO Moosedog Oy, PhD in telecommunications, recognized innovator with more than 200 patents or patent applications. He was selected as the engineer of the year 2007 in Finland
