TurkuAI – CIC Talks, March Meetup

Details

Our continuing partnership with CIC has produced some really insightful talks already, but it’s going to get even better this year: We’ll have a minimum of four meetups before the summer, provided by CIC talks!

The first meetup is going to be at the place that was formerly called SparkUp, hosted during the day as a part of Turku Tech Week: https://businessturku.fi/tapahtuma/turku-tech-week/

The talk will be given by two presenters, Tuomas Borman and Jutta Lindfors.
After the talk there will be a fireside chat with Joa Riski and Iidaliisa Pardalin about AI agents in software business, and of course some time for discussions and networking between and after the talks!

Schedule:
14:00 – Doors open, networking
14:15 – Tuomas Borman & Jutta Lindfors – AI and Computational Methods in Water Supply
15:00 – Joa Riski & Iidaliisa Pardalin – Fireside chat: AI agents in software business

Abstract of the talk:
AI and computational methods in water supply

Due to technical advances in previous years, artificial intelligence (AI) has become part of our everyday life. However, chatbots and similar highly visible applications represent only a small fraction of the potential applications for advanced computational methods. In fact, computational approaches can automate processes, improve decision-making, and offer novel insights in fields ranging from healthcare and biology to finance and engineering.

The quality of Finnish water supply is among the best in the world. To maintain this high standard, AI can be utilized in various ways, such as monitoring water supply infrastructure and assessing water quality. In this talk, we will discuss the possibilities and potential challenges of applying AI in water supply systems.

About CIC:
The project AI-academy aims to empower small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), but also a couple of larger businesses and municipalities in the Turku region in Finland by equipping them with the knowledge and resources necessary to embrace the transformative power of artificial intelligence. Through several activities, primarily through direct interaction and joint meetings, the partners will gain a deeper understanding of AI's capabilities, its potential to enhance efficiency, productivity, and customer service, and how to effectively integrate AI into their operations. The program will connect partners with AI experts at the University of Turku, provide them with practical guidance and tools, and foster a collaborative environment where they can learn from each other's experiences. The findings will be reported in something called CIC talks (CIC=Centre for Intelligent Computing, cic.utu.fi).

P.S. Note the starting time of this meetup, which is hosted during regular working hours instead of the evening like usual.
