What we’re about
The Samaritans of New York, a non-religious, non-profit organization in New York City offers free bereavement support groups for individuals who have lost a loved one to suicide who seek a safe and supportive environment where they can talk about their thoughts and feelings and share their experiences tied to their loss in the company of other people who have had similar experiences.
The meetings are free and offered twice a month on weekday evenings at convenient Manhattan locations and online. The meetings are only open to those who have lost a loved one to suicide and participants must be at least 18 years of age to attend. ABOUT SAFE PLACE:
Recovering after losing someone you love to suicide can be an overwhelming and isolating experience. At Safe Place, we want you to know that you are not alone. Our group is here to provide you with understanding and compassion as you do your best to cope.Our meetings are led by trained facilitators who are experienced Samaritans volunteers. They are equipped to handle the complexities surrounding suicide and its aftermath. They create a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for all group members.
ATTEND A MEETING:
Safe Place Meetings are scheduled the first Wednesday and the third Tuesday of each month. For May 2023 both meetings will be VIRTUAL groups via ZOOM from 7-8:30pm.Starting in June...

The third Tuesday meeting will be an IN-PERSON group from 7-9pm. All in-person groups will be held at Grace Church School, located near Union Square in Manhattan. More details about the group's location will be provided upon registration.
