About us

"Twice two makes four is an excellent thing, but if we are to give everything its due, twice two makes five is sometimes a very charming thing too." — Fyodor Dostoevsky

Welcome to a book club dedicated to the deep, the absurd, the existential, and the psychological. Everyone is welcome! And even if you have read these books before - come join us - it’s always fun to read them again with new people!

We will read a mix of psychological and existential favorites and philosophical texts (dying to read The Republic again). Expect a mix of:

• The Psychological & Absurd: Dostoevsky (Notes from Underground), Kafka (The Trial), Camus (The Myth of Sisyphus), Ogawa (The Memory Police).
• The Masters of Reason & Reality: Plato (The Republic), Descartes (Meditations), Hume (An Enquiry), Kant (Critique of Pure Reason), Orwell (1984).

Bring your sense of humour, an open mind and a willingness to argue (politely!) over whether twice two really has to make four.
