Hops and Topics: Finding Common Ground Over a Pint
Details
Welcome to the Twin Cities Common Ground Forum Meetup! The first Meetup was successful and look forward to the next one. We will meet inside BlackStack Brewing in St. Paul. The exact meeting location inside the venue will be posted near the start of the event. The event will begin at 7 PM and last until at least 8:30 PM.
What to Expect: This event is meant to share ideas and perspectives wherever the conversation leads us. We will kick off with a light ice breaker to get to know each other, followed by group discussion. The organizer will bring a few thought-provoking topics, but you’re encouraged to bring your own ideas too. This event is not meant to be a debate, but a chance to connect, learn, and share perspectives in good faith.
I have some simple ground rules to make this event successful:
- Everyone is free to share their perspective — respect and curiosity go a long way
- Assume good intentions — we’re all here to learn and grow.
- Let others speak — everyone deserves space to express their thoughts.
- Remember the algorithm effect — not everyone has been exposed to the same ideas or news.
- Speak from your own experience — personal stories > generalizations.
- Criticize ideas, not people — stay constructive and kind.
Here is some other information regarding logistics:
Parking: There is no cost for parking. Onsite, there is a parking garage and a small parking lot. There also is a parking lot across the street.
Food: There is a food truck on site. You may also bring an outside meal if you choose.
Drink: There are several beers and seltzers available including an NA option. There also is a water cooler if you rather not purchase a beverage.
