What we’re about

This is a group for anyone who loves documentaries and indie films, and perhaps discussing them. I decided to start this group because I love documentary films, usually the only time I see a movie in a theater these days it's an indie, and because I'd like to start attending some of the showings at the film festivals around town throughout the year. I thought there were probably others like me out there.

People are welcome to host showings (perhaps with a pot luck involved) at their homes, and I may even do that myself at some point if I ever get a better TV, but my main interest is seeing some of these in theaters. My focus will be locations in Minneapolis and Saint Paul proper, but don't hesitate to join or to organize meetups of your own if you live in the 'burbs.

To encourage people to host showings, everyone is automatically designated an Event Host. This doesn't obligate you to anything or commit you to anything, but if for some reason you don't want that capability enabled on your membership, let me know and I'll take it off.

Please explore the pages in the dropdown menu, as I have posted information there as to where Indie films and doucmentaries are frequently shown around town. I also list all the film festivals I could find. Feel free to let me know of any more!

This group is pretty casual. Basically, it exists so that fans of this genre can apprise others of showings, and plan to see them with others if they like. I tried to do something more formal at the beginning, but people didn't really show up or keep their r.s.v.p.'s current, and I don't really have time to devote to organize stuff when I can't be sure people are going to attend.

My main interests in documentary film are history, music, and the human experience. What are yours?
