Foraging for mushrooms & more at Afton State Park
Details
Let's meet at the last parking lot in Afton State Park by the trailhead L, at the picnic grounds. We will hike down the trail and eventually off trail, into some of the woods. Expect to hike about 3-4 miles on dirt trails and off trail. This should be a great time of year for chanterelles and some of the other edible mushrooms. We'll identify fungi and plants we find and forage within the rules of the park, which typically allow for foraging berries, mushrooms and nuts.
Bring your field guides, phones, and whatever else you want to for identification. It's recommended to wear hiking boots, pants, and bug repellent. There are a lot of mosquitos in the woods.
We'll start hiking at 10:30. See ya there!
