Blackberries @ Lebanon Hills (Jensen Lake)
Details
Meet at the Jensen Lake picnic shelter and we'll hike out to find blackberries and get distracted by the other plants and trees. We'll also take a look at the highbush cranberries around Jensen Lake and talk about the differences between American and European highbush cranberries. Dakota County updated their foraging policies to allow for some foraging for personal use of most common berries, nuts and mushrooms. I'll post an extensive list in the comments. For anything you want to forage that's not on that list, you can request a Special Use Permit. https://mndakotactyweb.myvscloud.com/webtrac/web/form.html?formcode=SUP%20Foraging&formID=77320382
We'll hike south from Jensen Lake and walk 3-4 miles at a slow pace on dirt trails. We will mostly be on the trails, but consider dressing for off-trail hiking if we find something worth getting off the trail for. It's recommended to wear hiking boots, pants, and bug repellent.
Bring your field guides, phone, and whatever else you want to for plant identification.
