Late September is finally walnut season! We'll meet at Afton State Park and race the squirrels for the black walnuts. Bring a bag or container and rubber globes or other thick gloves for handling the walnuts as the husk stains skin black.

We'll walk around and collect walnuts, then spend the rest of the time husking and washing the nutshells to remove the husk remnants. Hopefully we'll all leave with some walnuts that can be shelled after they dry for several weeks. (Look for a late autumn event for that)

All identities and experience levels are welcome. This is a collaboration event with the Outdoor Introverts group. If this event fills up, check their event here for additional opportunities to sign up

I'll bring some buckets for washing the walnuts and something to remove the husks with.

Bring a chair if you want to sit while we husk/wash nuts.
