About us
Twin Cities Hiking Meetup (TCHM) is for hiking and outdoor enthusiasts who want to join like-minded people to hike on the vast and varied trails in the Twin Cities. Our purpose is to provide a variety of hiking and outdoor opportunities in our area's beautiful natural settings that foster friendships and community. Our members share a strong commitment to leaving our parks, lakes and rivers the way we found them; we embrace a leave-no-trace philosophy.
While TCHM focuses on hiking and hiking related activities, other outdoor activities, such as snowshoeing may be offered. Hikes are held year-round and many of them include a social gathering afterwards! Most of our regularly scheduled hikes take place in Minneapolis, St. Paul and the suburbs, but don’t be surprised to see opportunities to hike in county and state parks outside the metro area.
When joining TCHM, please use your given name or nickname in your profile, along with a clear photo of yourself. This will help us identify you when we see you on a hike or other activity.
There is no cost to join TCHM. However, maintaining our Meetup account costs approximately $300 each year. Periodically we will initiate a fundraiser to help with these costs. Participation in fundraisers is welcomed and voluntary.
TCHM is a place for you to get some exercise, have fun and enjoy your favorite outdoor activity with people who share your interests.
We are dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, welcoming and harassment-free experience for all TCHM members.

Sat AM Hike – Silverbrook Falls/Interstate SP-St. Croix Falls, WI + Village Inn
Ice Age Interpretive Center, 1275 Hwy 35, Saint Croix Falls, WI, USLet’s meet up for a 7-8 mile hike at Interstate State Park – Wisconsin, including the beautiful Silverbrook Falls! Following the hike, join us(optional) for coffee/brunch/lunch(or pie!) at Village Inn Wyoming, 4848 E Viking Blvd, Wyoming, MN 55092.
Village Inn Restaurants in Wyoming, MN, MINNESOTA | Village Inn RestaurantWe will hike 7-8 miles in 3-3.5 hours at a medium pace (18-20 minute mile), pausing a few times to take in the natural surroundings, in addition to a 5-10 minute snack and bio break about 2.5 miles in. Our route will include some of the trails along Lake O’ the Dalles in lieu of the Pothole, Summit or Echo Canyon summer trails that include snow and ice covered rock stairs along the bluffs. That said, be prepared for some challenging sections as winter hiking can be full of fun surprises.
THE HIKE: The terrain is uneven and varies with rocks, roots, loose gravel, snow, ice, water, mud and dirt. There are some hills. Grippers(ie Kahtoola Microspikes) and/or poles are recommended due to packed snow and ice that is typical on the trails this time of year. I will be bringing my grippers and a backpack to carry them in as there may be need to take them off and on with the different trail sections. Also, please remember to bring some water, snacks and anything else you need for a 3+ hour hike.
Sorry, no dogs, +1s or children allowed on this hike.
FACILITIES: There is drinking water and modern bathrooms at the visitor center, some pit toilets along the route.
PARKING: An “America the Beautiful” national park pass OR a Wisconsin State Park pass is required to enter this park. A single day WI state park pass is $16. A 12-month vehicle admission pass is $50. Passes can be purchased online in advance or as you enter the park. https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/admission .
According to their website, (https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/interstate/info), WI Interstate Park is part of the Ice Age National Scientific Reserve and so Federal annual or lifetime passes https://www.nps.gov/planyourvisit/passes.htm are honored and vehicle admission fees are waived with these passes.IMPORTANT: Please honor your RSVP and if your plans change update your status to Not Going as soon as you know, even if you are on the Waitlist.
