Sat AM long Hike @Wm O’Brien SP + Brookside Bar & Grill – Marine on St. Croix

Let’s meet-up for a long Summer hike at William O’Brien State Park! Following the hike (optional), join us for a late lunch/refreshments and live music at nearby Brookside Bar & Grill, 140 Judd Street, Marine on St. Croix, MN 55047 https://www.brooksidebarandgrill.com/menus

THE HIKE: We will hike approximately 8 miles at a medium pace (18-20 minute miles) through a variety of landscapes including wetlands, hardwood forest and rolling hills before the trail winds by majestic 100-year-old pine trees along the St. Croix River and Lake Alice. Expect to be hiking 2 ½ - 3 hours. We will stop a few times to hydrate and enjoy the scenery. Nearly all of the trails will be non-paved trails with uneven terrain that varies with gravel, mud and dirt. There are rolling hills with a couple of steep ones.

Protective clothing or DEET bug spray should be considered for potential ticks, mosquitoes and other bugs that are active at this time of year. You may want to bring a bug headnet along, just in case. Sunscreen or protective clothing is also recommended.

Modern bathrooms and water are available at the trailhead with a few pit toilets along the route.

PARKING: Each car will need a state park pass. The prices are: $35 for an annual pass and $7 for a daily pass.

We will meet in front of the Visitor/Interpretive Center. After you pass the park entrance and ranger station, turn left at the first "T", and then take the first right into the parking lot.
