Let’s get out to enjoy the Spring weather with a 7-8 mile hike at Willow River State Park! Following the hike, (optional) join us for lunch/refreshments at Smilin’ Moose Lodge Bar & Grill, 601 2nd St, Hudson, WI 54016
https://www.smilinmoosebar.com/food

The trail will take us through lake scenery, wetlands, prairie, oak and pine forests, panoramic river scenery and a few very steep hills. The centerpiece of the park is Willow Falls, a powerful cascade in a 200 foot deep gorge.

Expect to hike about 7-8 miles at a medium pace (~19-20 minute mile) over 3 - 3 ½ hours. Time and pace will vary based on trail conditions. We will pause a few times to take in the natural surroundings and hydrate/snack. Be prepared for potential Spring trail conditions that include bare earth, sand, rock, turf, mud, standing water, snow, packed snow and ice with some hills and low/wetland areas. Poles can be helpful for navigating these trail conditions.

FACILITIES: There are pit toilets at the trailhead and at least one additional one along the trail.
Water: Please bring water from home as the drinking water station at the trailhead may be closed for the season.

Parking: A Wisconsin State Park pass is required to enter this park. A single day WI state park pass is $16. A 12-month vehicle admission pass is $50. Passes can be purchased online in advance or as you enter the park. https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/admission
