Weekly wildflower and nature hike along the Minnehaha gorge
Details
It's again spring wildflower time! Last week, skunk cabbage and blood root emerged; this weekend's warm days brought half a dozen more species--what next? Enjoy the emerging and ever-changing spring ephemerals on a congenial hike from Minnehaha falls through the Minnehaha Creek gorge to the Mississippi, returning along an abandoned waterfall bed.
We will hike at a moderate pace (18 min miles); expect stairs, other uneven ground, and a few muddy spots. We will make frequent stops to admire flowers, birds, rocks, and anything else that catches our interest. Hike is on rain or shine, cool or warm, so dress accordingly.
And as an extra treat afterwards, join with other hikers for a brew or snack at Sea Salt--opening Friday 4/17.
Find free street parking along Nawadaha Boulevard or choose paid MInneapolis Park lots along Godfrey Parkway.
