Skip the rush hour and Hike Terrace Oaks West

Let’s meet up to hike the hilly woodland trails of Terrace Oaks West Park!

Expect to hike at a moderate pace of 18-20 minutes/mile for about 5 miles. This hike is rather strenuous due to the steep hills. The earthen trails include some rocks, roots and ruts. A 1/2-mile section of trail on the SE side of the park closely parallels Interstate 35E with commuter-time road noise; ear plugs help.

Recommended preparation: a) wear hiking or trail-running footwear and clothing for weather conditions, b) pack drinking water, energy snack and personal emergency meds or supplies needed, and c) use sun and insect protection as appropriate.

No kids, dogs or +1s on this hike; only members who agree to read and comply with the expectations set by this event description, TCHM and Meetup Community Guidelines may participate.

We will meet between the pavilion and the small parking lot just off Co Rd 11. A chemical toilet is on site. Welcome, introductions and review of the hike plan will begin at hike time. The plan is to follow the hiking trail loop counter-clockwise once (3.2 miles) then continue to reach about 5 miles.

We hike in all weather except imminent thunderstorms; I check the weather forecast and update this event page 2 hours before hike time if we need to cancel. Importantly, be sure to timely update your attendance status to "Not going" if your plans change (including if you are on the wait list) or if last-minute simply post a note on the event page (I later delete these.)
