Taylors Falls Outdoor Rock Climbing
Details
Climb at the gym? Know how to belay? Just want to climb outside? Join TCRC Meetup for some outdoor climbing at Interstate State Park in Taylors Falls (WI side). No anchor-building knowledge is required. TCRC Meetup will set up 1 - 2 ropes depending on the number of participants. The routes will range in grade from 5.6 - 5.10.
The group will meet at the Pothole Trailhead at 8 am. We will have a brief introduction and then walk over the top of the cliff and establish our “camp” for the day. Before we start climbing we will practice belaying from the top and rappelling. After our skills practice, we will set up 1 - 2 routes and trade-off climbing and belaying.
Required Equipment: Harness, helmet, shoes, belay device, and two locking carabiners. (Some helmets are available and extra locking carabiners are available)
If you do not own the required equipment please do not RSVP. No rental equipment is available.
Make sure to bring plenty of water and food. There are no restrooms at the climbing area, however, there are some around the State Park.
Directions from Taylors Falls: Cross the bridge into Wisconsin and take Highway 35 exit. Turn right (south) and the state park is on the left side. After you pass the entrance booth, the parking lot is the first one on the right. Same as the entrance to the North campground.
Meetup is free, but the State Park does charge an entrance fee. Please check the Wisconsin State Park website for details.
