Collaboration Meeting on a tech project.

Details

Collaboration on a technical project. STEM all the way, with maybe some redneck engineering to assist.

I inherited this group from a founder that stepped down. There has literally been no activity, so I am trying to get things started. Lets build a telescope!

Science: The stars in space. Lets take a closer look. How do we get to see that closer look?

Technology: Lets program the telescope to move with some stepper motors and some software we will most likely have to write.

Engineering: Building a stable mount so the scope can move, and balancing all parts so it does not fall over. It would be great it if was easy to operate with the least amount of effort.

Math: Calculating positions of stars based on date/time and observing location on earth. Then calculate the position the telescope needs to be in to see said stars. There are a lot of calculations needed for the Engineering portion as well.

I bought a 14" primary mirror about 12 years ago and never had time to build the telescope. I now have my own CNC router, a 3D printer, and a Roll/Break/Shear for metal. I have been busy with other projects and life, but I would like to get this telescope started.

Anyone interested in participating in any fashion is welcome to join. Come see what I have done, where I would like to go, offer constructive criticism, opinions, lessons learned from experience of others, and more.
