Type Brigade №27

Details
Type Brigade is Vancouver’s typography and type design meetup. We’re excited to announced that Type Brigade №27 is on October 27th, featuring two talented designers we’re lucky have both re-located to Vancouver: Guillermina Noël and Quinn Keaveney.
• Doors: 6:30PM
• Talks begin: 7:00PM
• No admittance during talks
Quinn Keaveney
Quinn Keaveney (https://twitter.com/quitequinn) is a type designer and developer based in Vancouver, via Chicago. He runs the studio Quite Type (http://quinnkeaveney.com), which develops web apps, typefaces, and even strange zine-ee LP covers with clients like Disney and Webtype. Quinn’s work has been recognised by AIGA Chicago, Print Magazine, and the Type Directors Club. His display typeface Finkl (http://www.thedesignersfoundry.com/products/finkl-pro) allows over 20 styles to be layered in different combinations. At Type Brigade №27, he’ll go in-depth on a recent type specimen project he completed.
Guillermina Noël
Guille Noël (http://www.frascara-noel.net/guillermina-noel/) holds a PhD in Design Sciences from the University IUAV of Venice, Italy, and a Master of Design from the University of Alberta, Canada. She has worked on the design of materials for people with severe speech and reading impairments, interacting with neurologists, educational psychologists, and speech therapists, emphasising the importance of user-centred design and design for users with special needs. Since 2003 her practice Frascara-Noel (http://www.frascara-noel.net/) focuses on health related design issues. She is now an Adjunct Researcher at the Health Design Lab at Emily Carr University.
Custom Numerals
We signify each Type Brigade with a new set of custom-lettered numerals. Our “27” numerals were designed specifically for this event. They’re the ribbon to wrap up the projects we’ll learn about at this event.
