Iris Sprague – Building a system from a skeleton
In type design, experimental is the new frontier. Trying to break free of the static, 2-dimensional ways that super families are approached, Iris uses Theo Superfamily to explore new ways of designing typefaces. Inspired by Peter Biľak of Typotheque’s philosophy for the typeface Karloff, Iris will share how she used a prompt to dictate her designs for Theo.
Iris Sprague (http://irissprague.co/) is an award-winning type designer, pen twirler, and letterer, based in Seattle. She recently completed her MFA in Design at Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, launching the Rope Type foundry.
Chaun Osburn is a Senior Art Director at Urban Influence (http://urbaninfluence.com), a brand and interactive firm in Seattle. An avid photographer, and early Lost Type Co-op contributing illustrator, Chaun has many years of experience working as a typographer across media and working with teams of designers.

We signify each Type Brigade with a new set of custom numerals. This time around, Iris will have some of her amazing Theo prints available for purchase:
