I’ll cover the Threat Detection team’s roots, the methods we’re using today, and where this technology is heading.

At Uber, scale isn’t just about handling millions of requests per second—it’s about securing them and making it seamless for engineers to build and deploy with confidence. But how do you secure every service, machine, and identity in a constantly evolving, hybrid multi-cloud hyper-growth environment? This talk explores the platform chain of trust: how PKI integrates with SPIRE. We’ll share performance wins, like reducing SPIRE server CPU usage by 40%, and real-world lessons from operating EJBCA (PKI) and SPIRE at Uber scale.
