Intro to Cadence: A distributed, durable and scalable orchestration engine

Details

Cadence consists of a managed service (https://github.com/uber/cadence), which is API compatible with Amazon Simple Workflow Service (SWF), and a client side programming framework (https://github.com/uber-go/cadence-client) that makes it easier to build scalable and fault tolerant distributed applications involving coordination of asynchronous, long running, loosely coupled tasks / micro-services. With Cadence, application developers focus on the core business logic. The underlying distributed system boilerplate needed for ensuring state persistence, fault tolerance and task routing are managed by the service and client SDK. Furthermore, Cadence is a general purpose orchestration engine upon which domain specific systems, that are implemented as a collection of workflows, can be built.

Come join us for a technical deep dive on Cadence. We will explore the reasoning behind building Cadence, discuss some of the more interesting implementation challenges, as well as demo some use cases.
