Title:
Scaling the unknown: (not) new challenges in music and audio research
Abstract:
In this talk, I will discuss what I’ve learned from taking a well-defined academic research topic in music information retrieval and trying to scale it to a more real-world deployment scenario. I’ll focus on the challenges that naturally arise in terms of big(ger) data and usability, and on the new research questions that come with it. Then I’ll outline how I hope to apply this knowledge to the emerging field of immersive audio in the context of the SONICOM project, which has just started.
