Talks:
"Zen and the art of user experience" by Guru Munishwar.
Abstract:
The undocumented journey of a user experience designer:
HowI figured the latent needs of users?
Am I designing for the mind?
Why are work models important to me?
Am I considering the subjective satisfaction of a user?
Bio: I am Guru Munishwar, product designer, and an open-minded observer designing products since the last ten years in India, Dubai, New Zealand, US, and Germany. I started unlearning everything I knew about this field to practice human approach to user experience design. I work as a product designer with an organization building a platform for developers helping dev-teams to focus on writing unique code and developing enterprise businesses solutions incredibly fast. I am working on my personal 'Berlin Curry Wurst' project to see if the commute time in Berlin can be productive in community building.
"Visualizing Patient Reported Outcomes" for Doctors by Marc Tiedemann.
Healthcare systems worldwide struggle with ageing populations, rising costs and inconsistent care quality. A know problem are the current fee-for-service contracts of providers. These encourage hospitals and doctors to deliver more and more volume, but not value.
That is why there is a rising trend of the value-based healthcare idea. Here the focus is the actual created benefit for the patient. And can be measured through so called patient reported outcomes, where the patient documents her current state of health without the interference of a third party before and long after a therapy.
There are several initiatives and companies working on this. One is heartbeat medical a company Marc co-founded in 2014. But only a few are challenging the question how to make these outcome measures actionable for the doctors in their daily use.
I will present the results from his Bachelors-Thesis where he developed a visualization system for doctors to view and compare patient-reported outcome measures across different therapy options. Using a dataset from the breast cancer center of the Berliner Charité. It includes in-depth outcomes across 23 dimensions and detailed therapy information of more than 200 Patients.
The resulting prototype of an interactive data-visualization can be used to identify patient problems as well as best practice methods of therapy combinations.
Bio: While studying the Interface Design at the FH-Potsdam Marc freelanced as a generative designer building interactive installations for clients like Camel, Oi & the Expo 2012, Seoul. At that time Marc also co-founded Konkreet Performer. An award winning iPad app to control Music via Visuals for professional artists. 2014 he co-founded heartbeat a healthcare startup dedicated to measure long term treatment results.
