Talks:

“3 must-dos of visual design strategy to differentiate your product” by Iryna Nezhynska.

Abstract: Are you currently working on a product that brings a value to our lives but that also has N amount of alternatives on market? Or are you working in a startup whose product category is developing so fast that new players appearing almost every day? Or are you helping a client whose business definitely makes sense but also is challenged by the established reputation of bolder competitors?
As a designer, you sometimes cannot influence business model or value proposition. But as a designer, you are completely in charge of helping business get noticed by early adopters and win their extra attention span by visually standing out on market.
You can reach this goal by adding three “cornerstones” of visual design strategy into your creative process.

Bio: Iryna is a strategy-focused designer specialising in visual languages for digital products and brand identities for tech startups.
Previously Head of design in Norwegian software agency and lead visual designer in Deloitte Digital, Iryna is currently a part of Jolocom (Berlin-based blockchain startup), where she takes care of branding and service design strategy and a design mentor at Faster Capital incubator.
When describing herself she usually starts with: “I’m a designer till bones, branding is in my blood and in the air I breath. With (invisible) design muscles after 8+ years of creating visual languages, facilitating decision making and making clients accept “that one right concept”. When you are moving from traditional ad agency environment to software teams and startups, you cannot stop enjoying their mindset and MVP approach to creating products, but you also see how much of valuable design knowledge didn’t reach software development industry”.

"SEAMs: A standardised model for working on interface design" by Boris Anthony.

Abstract: One of the responsibilities of design is to make sure everyone involved in making a thing has a clear and shared understanding of what that thing is. SEAMs propose a simple standardised model and language for representing and collaborating on the creation of user interfaces & experiences.
It starts with a simple graph diagram that adapts to your product culture but can easily spread to the application in living design systems, and even the software itself.

Bio: Boris Anthony has been architecting, designing and sometimes even building user experiences, from the early web to complex multi-environment service platforms. Currently co-founder and Strategic Director of the Rebus Foundation, he previously headed the Experience Architecture Group at Nokia HERE, Berlin.
