Topic: Adopting the cloud: does developing all application components inside SQL Server still make sense?

Description: As a pre-historic pre-cloud DBA you have probably used and preferred to develop any application data component inside SQL Server – OLTP and analytical data sets, messaging service, managing configurations and application state data, loading and processing data files. 10 years ago monolith data architecture used to be common as well as fault and disaster tolerant. Is it still correct to continue developing and supporting such monoliths these days?

Speaker bio: Maria Zakourdaev has been working with data technologies for about 20 years, managing databases and data transformation tools in both AWS and Azure public cloud services as well as on-prem. She is an Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) Data Platform and has a lot of experience with SQL Server, Azure Cosmos DB, Elasticsearch, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, Amazon Redshift and Couchbase. She is one of the SQL Saturday Israel organizers and speaks at many data platform conferences. See less
