PharoSDL3 is a new set of Pharo FFI bindings for SDL 3, a cross-platform C library widely used in multimedia applications and games. It gives direct, low-level access to window management, input devices, audio, camera, and graphics hardware, including GPU-accelerated rendering and compute.

With SDL 2 now deprecated, and Pharo 15 planned to ship the SDL 3 library on all platforms, it's a good moment to explore what Pharo can do with it.

The talk covers the design of the bindings and how they integrate with Pharo, followed by demos of a wide range of SDL 3 features. These demos are meant as a starting point for curious developers who want to play with their own ideas. Then we will open the floor for a relaxed discussion and questions.

Martín Dias is a software engineer for the Pharo Consortium, focused on graphical libraries such as Bloc.

Over the last 20 years, Martín has been a programmer, a researcher, and a teacher. He has more than 15 years of experience with Pharo, contributing to its open-source ecosystem. For example, he is one of the creators of Fuel, a widely used object serializer in Pharo, Squeak, and other Smalltalks.
