About us

Every 3rd Monday Join Maureen Andary, longtime Uke teacher and enthusiast, for a fun ukulele strum along at the School of Musical Traditions in Takoma Park, MD at 7112 Willow Avenue. Music provided and we’ll have free pizza to share. Come armed with a song to lead or simply show up and strum along for the ride!

For this strum along, you will want to know at least 7-8 chords to have a good time (C, Am, F, G/G7, D, Em, E7) . You can email the strum along leader directly if you have questions, comments or concerns maureen@schoolofmusicaltraditions.com

Most songs we play only have 3-5 chords but we are a group of fairly experienced ukulele players and like to switch keys (C, G, A, + D are popular keys for ukulele). If that sounds beyond your skill level, you're still welcome to come and use the time to learn new chords (focus on your left hand not the strums), get some new sheet music to take home, meet some new folks, and enjoy pizza - all for free! - at our music school.

Registration recommended (for accurate pizza ordering) and walk-ins are welcome. This is not at the beloved House of Musical Traditions - it is at a separate, nearby ADA accessible facility with free parking!
