The Inaugural Umbraco CMS Ireland Meetup!

HELLO UMBRACO IRELAND!

I'm very happy to be announcing the very first Umbraco Ireland Meetup!

We’re getting the ball rolling with an excellent line-up on the night with something for everyone in the audience. From those curious to learn about Umbraco, to those looking to build on their knowledge.

We’ve had great support from the wider Umbraco Community getting this off the ground, including Umbraco HQ in Denmark who’ve sent goodies over for those trailblazers attending our first meetup.

Flying in from the UK to be our first guest speakers on the evening are community stalwarts Callum Whyte and Dave Battersby.

WHAT IS UMBRACO ANYWAY?
Umbraco is a modern, scalable content management system that delivers a seamless experience across all devices. It is open source and has the flexibility to run anything from small campaign or brochure sites right through to complex applications for Fortune 500's.

Built on the .NET MVC stack, Umbraco is strongly supported by an active and welcoming community of users around the world. It offers great separation of concerns for teams, allowing designers & front and back-end developers to collaborate alongside each other to craft exceptional web experiences.

Some of you interested in attending may never have used Umbraco CMS and this meetup is very much about bringing together those who are new and those who have experience to share. So come along on the night, say hello, have a beer and let's learn together about what Umbraco CMS and the wider community has to offer.

TALK #1 - Callum Whyte

What is Umbraco? Why is it so great? What can it do? How do I get started?

Callum takes us on a whistle-stop tour covering the key concepts of the open-source Umbraco CMS, including the Umbraco Cloud platform, and walks us through making our first site in less than 30 minutes. We'll see the Grid, Nested Content, Models Builder, other useful packages and much more!

TALK #2 - Dave Battersby

Merchello – A fully functional eCommerce framework.

THE SPEAKERS:

Callum Whyte:
Callum is an Umbraco MVP, Master and senior developer at The Cogworks, based in London. As one of the baristas who brings you your weekly fix of UmbraCoffee (live every Friday!) he lives and breathes the world of Umbraco.

When he’s not building excellent Umbraco solutions, Callum is busy spreading the Umbraco love. He’s an active contributor to the Umbraco Core and to many community packages, as well as a regular speaker at Umbraco meetups and conferences all over the world!

Away from his desk you can find him out in the wild organising Umbraco community events; hosting an Umbraco London meetup, organising the Umbraco UK Festival in winter and flipping burgers in the summer for the Umbraco BBQ.

Dave Battersby:
Dave is an experienced web developer with over 10 years of experience, 3 of which is with Umbraco and eCommerce. Dave works at a small agency in Scotland providing consultation to SME's as well as business to business projects.
