Umbraco Builders Day

Umbraco Builders Day brings Umbraco community and HQ folks together for a relaxed day of building - helping each other shape ideas, get unstuck and find people to team up with. Regulars will know it as our virtual hackathon (new name, same friendly faces!), and if you’ve never been to one, it’s the perfect first event.

Hack together on anything that extends or uses an Umbraco product. Bring an idea, find collaborators, build something.

Drop in and out whenever you like. Come for an hour or stay all day, it’s completely up to you.

What to expect

• A relaxed day of building. No pitches, no judges, no pressure.
• Umbraco HQ people around all day to help or point you to the right person.
• Other builders to team up with, or just to keep you company on your screen while you work on your own thing.
• We'll run a casual show-and-tell throughout the day for anyone who wants to share what they built. Totally fine to skip it.

What can you build?
Anything that touches an Umbraco product. A package, an integration, a starter kit, a fix for something that’s been bugging you, a weird experiment with AI, or a feature you wish existed. Small is great. Unfinished is great too.

What to bring

• An idea, a problem you’ve been meaning to solve, or nothing at all. We’ll help you find something, or you can join someone else’s project.
• Your curiosity. Ask questions, poke at things, try something you haven’t tried before.

It’s a workday, so ask your boss
Builders Day is on a Friday, so have a chat with your employer about blocking out the day (or part of it). It’s hands-on learning with the people who build Umbraco, and you’ll come back with new skills, new contacts and maybe even something you can use at work. That’s an easy sell, right? 😉

First time?
This is the perfect one to start with. You don’t need to be an Umbraco expert, you don’t need a team, and you don’t need a plan. Plenty of people come along just to learn, ask questions and see what others are working on. Everyone was new once, and the people in the room are genuinely happy to help.
