UmbraCymru - Umbraco AI Hackathon!
Details
We’re getting together for a hands-on, low-pressure maker session: a few hours to build, experiment, and make progress with Umbraco. This isn’t a traditional hackathon - no pitches or prizes - just a relaxed space to build something you're genuinely excited about alongside other Umbraco developers, whether that’s starting something new or continuing an existing idea.
The Focus
Your mission is open-ended: dive into the newest tech in the Umbraco ecosystem. That could mean creating AI features or packages on top of Umbraco.AI, using AI to work with Umbraco itself (for example, driving the backoffice through the MCP Server), or getting hands-on with Umbraco Automate - the brand-new drag-and-drop automation engine that runs right in the backoffice, which officially launches on July 9th!
Bring your own idea, or grab one of ours to get started. And of course, you can use AI as a learning partner to bridge the gap between an idea and a working prototype, but how you work is up to you.
Why Join?
- HQ Support: Get direct access to Umbraco’s AI, Automate, and Backoffice specialists. Umbraco HQ staff will be in attendance to pair-program, answer questions, and help you out, namely:
- Phil Whittaker - Staff Developer, AI / DXP Team
- Lee Kelleher – Senior Developer, CMS
- Lotte Pitcher – Head of Developer Relations - Partner Benefits: If you're from a partner agency, your participation helps your firm earn the 'Contributing Partner' badge!
- Community & Learning: Work with the brilliant, friendly, and talented Umbraco community members you meet there. At the end, we'll have a quick show 'n tell for anyone who wants to demo what they worked on (but no pressure if you just spent the day learning!).
What to bring:
Your laptop, your curiosity, and your ideas — if you’ve already got some!
Don’t worry if you can’t make the start time; you’re welcome to turn up any time, including much later in the afternoon. Just let us know when you sign up so we know when to expect you!
Venue
The meetup will be hosted at Aspire Systems, Trade Street, Cardiff, CF10 5DT, which is a less than 5-minute walk from Cardiff Central train station.
