umBristol Talks - January 2026
Details
Hello fellow Umbracians,
To kick off our Umbraco Bristol events for the year, the team at true are hosting our January talks event at Clockwise in central Bristol, with the usual food and drink provided.
The talks for the evening will be:
- "Serve the Moment, not the Masses" by Sean Thorne
Most websites are built for the masses: one-size-fits-all layouts, static calls to action, and generic content that treats every visitor exactly the same. It’s safe, it’s predictable… and it’s killing engagement. Today’s users expect experiences that feel personal, relevant, and timely. That means understanding who they are, what they’re here for, and where they are in their journey and then responding in the moment. In this talk, we’ll explore how to build context-aware content. You’ll see how to: - Spot where generic content is losing you users. - Use Segments to deliver tailored experiences from a single node. - Trigger timely, relevant content based on real behaviour - Keep accessibility and ethics at the heart of personalisation. By the end, you’ll know how to stop designing for “everyone” and start delivering for this user, right now turning every interaction into the right call, at the right moment. - "Delivering Enterprise Commerce simply: Bringing multiple brands under one roof" by Matt Sutherland
The session will cover how a global homewares leader unified two eCommerce platforms, with 6,000 product variations, into a single, scalable DXP - simplifying purchase journeys and reducing cost of sale.
